Summary
Jatropha gossypiifolia is a shrub approximately 1.5m in height. A native of Brazil, it now has a pantropical distribution. Often planted and cultivated as an ornamental, Jatropha gossypiifolia adapts to different types of habitats but prefers disturbed drylands, savannah or pasture. It can form dense stands which limit the regeneration of native plants. Jatropha gossypiifolia is often regarded as a pasture weed. Its seeds are toxic to humans.
