Justification for EICAT assessment


Animal material does not form a large percentage by volume of the adult European Goldfinch diet. Aphids do form approximately five percent by volume in October and November In New Zealand. There is no evidence that predation by the European Goldfinch has caused a decline of these species (Campbell 1972).
