Justification for EICAT assessment
The Zebra Dove is a host of Trichomonas gallinae and avian pox on Hawaii, which had also been detected in native bird species, for example the Apapane (Himatione sanguinea).There is no evidence that this has caused a decline of these species (Van Riper and Van Riper 1985, Hawaii Horticulture 2013, Hawaii Bird Guide).
